Mmmm, rain

Someday I will learn how to post the buttons in my sidebar to link to other cool blogs and/or the knitalongs or other thingies I am doing. For now, I'll just say that I was clever enough to remember to grab my camera as we left the house this rainy morning, and advise you to go look at Sandy's blog for her Saturday Sky photos and wonderful blogging content.

Hmmmm. I'd call it Seattle-ish weather, but KT tells me that actually, there was snowfall in Seattle today! Brr!

Finally, the results are in and we have a non-carcinogenic canine. The pathology report didn't tell us what the growth on his spleen was, nor why it burst, but it wasn't cancerous. Thank heaven. He's feeling much better, but is confused as to why we don't want him leaping around and nibbling his staples. He's also very annoyed that we are withholding kibble, and although he likes the boiled chicken just fine, he wants MORE!!!

Tomorrow holds a trip to one of the weirdest-looking stadiums ever to see my Browns (hopefully) pummel the Cardinals. Also to see an up-and-coming footballer who I've known since he was tiny strut his stuff in the Punt/Pass/Kick winners show at the game! Way to go, K!

Knitters Kneeded!

YOU, yes you, you lurking knitter you, are needed to help out.

Go here and read all about it. Sign up, then reward yourself by reading Gale's blog and ooh-ing and ahh-ing over her fabulous photography.

That Gale is a talented lady, ya'll. Let's help her out! I'm doing up a tasty pink version of Hello Yarn's Cherry Garcia neck tube. Quick and easy, knit-in-the-round, and ooooh, so cuddly.

Spot is on the mend; still looks funny from all the shaving they did, but his heart's beating in rhythm again and he's almost off all the other meds, too.
*sigh* happy me.

Next?

This is so cool.

Norma's doing it. She rocks.

My turn now!

I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days. That is my promise. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Your turn now!

To the wonderful animal hospital staff.

To my families and friends.

To my dear stoic redhead.

To the bravehearted girlie.

To all of you sending karma our way. (Keep up the good work! Please!)

And most of all to the welshie, patchily-shaven and sutured, for coming through this far and making it home where he ought to be.

We're hoping to go see him within the hour. Please give hugs and kisses and pats to all of your dear animals tonight. Thanks.

Day o' rest

Not much going on here, and that's what I like about Sundays. I have officially given S the day off--he gets to do or NOT do whatever he wants today. He's got football on and is working a crossword puzzle as we speak.

The girlie is discovering the joy of e-mail with a friend; I've pried her off the box so that she can practice before a guitar lesson with her cool 19-year old cousin.

Me? I'm debating scarf patterns for a friend and planning a couple of quick errands to use up the kiddo's lesson time. Then home to make some Thanks Boxes (info on those later), start a roast for dinner, and off to softball! Finals tonight.

The camera has scampered off to Sanyo in California for some spa and repair time. Meanwhile, in lieu of photos, this I love:

Can't make the NaBloPoMo

Sorry, I've been a complete one of these of late.

Work is just now getting back under control, and Thursdays off will resume this week.

*phew!*

Here's a meme I shamelessly swiped from la blackbird, the queen of blogging...

A bit of foodie info for each letter of your name......

K is for key lime--the best of the best, and what my sweetie uses in his killer margaritas.

A is for asparagus--thin as a drinking straw, steamed and buttered. Awfully good with a cheese souffle, right mom?

T is for tamale--bad, commercially produced ones should be shot into space. Good ones will make the heavens open and the angels weep. If you get invited to a tamale-making-party 'round the winter holidays, go and count your blessings.

Y is for yeast, that (them...) which makes bread possible. All hail the little yeasties!

Not much crafting to report of late. See above mention of work-place horrors. Here are a couple of snaps for any of you brave souls who still venture by......... thanks!

Saturday in Sells

Day trip to Sells to visit wonderful family. M is researching the Tohono O'odham tribe for a school report, so we took a trip to the new Tohono O'odham Nation Cultural Center & Museum just south of Sells. It's free and quite beautiful; go see!

The sky was constantly changing; overcast, brilliantly blue, and flinging down torrential, short rainstorms.

Delightful.

Lazybones

I had big plans for a long post this morning, but, as usual, time is slipping away from me. Here are some tidbits...

(Question for anyone who stops in--remember my Frog-athon from last year? Anyone interested in playing along this year? If so, do leave me a comment--I'll try to get it together if there's some interest!)

Toolkit for my knitting bag-DONE!

Camera case--lacks strap...

a couple of quick snaps

I've always called Marion my sweet potato. Now I've made one for her.
(You can see it in the sketches, too, if you look for it.)

Molly Chicken blogged her sketchbooks a while ago--here are a couple of my pages. (You can see them better if you look at them on my Flickr page.)

If you see this anywhere, buy it and savor it. Delightful!

Please to be having a loverly weekend.Cheers!

Did 'ja miss me?

Well.

What a long, strange month it's been.

My softball team went from worst to first. (Yay Black Sox! I may have a photo to put here soon.)

Work sucks so badly (in some ways) that it's leaving marks on my ankles.

Miss M has left for a 2-week trip to the East Coast with her doting grandparents. (Boston, Cape Cod, Connecticut and The City) (Yes, I'm jealous.)

It's monsoon season. We've had much dust and a bit of rain.

Our new-to-us car has returned from it's trip to the shop adorned with a bright, sunflower yellow pinstripe and no one has hit it yet. (Yay! Photo to follow soon)

Bec is blogging again (Huzzah!) (It's a slow link, but give it a minute, she's worth it)

Here are photos.

Hey! There are Cheerios under here! Score!

Oh, I hate the camera.

Stuff on nose again.

This is what happens when your DH asks if any more crap can fit on the coffee table and there are two (smart-ass) females in the house....

A pincushion for a nice person. (forgot to take a photo of the Chakalaka basket it went into...

This is the quilt that sat on the piano at my Nana's house for many years. I don't remember if she made it or not. Mom, you'll know--leave a comment for me, OK?

I love this mattress-ticking fabric. It might have been from my Uncle Brud's shirt ("Brud" short for brother), but I'm not certain. I love it nonetheless.

What's up?

Post-ice-cream sandwich fingers.....

Do not waste good stuff....

Mothra
loses in battle with Gecko:

I had a lovely phone interview with an eyeball office in Canada, but the weather precluded the plan to head north. Now begins the siege on Vancouver. Shh, don't tell anyone.

I'll try to be back soon.
